Before the residency I question myself do I really loved nature? Perhaps I was toocomfortable in the city, it is hard for me to really see nature as a utopia, but I am still curious and fascinating for it, as if I’m encountering an admirable culture.
LABVERDE's compact and informative itinerary was a series of challenging to one'ssenses and mind. Even if it was only ten days, I gain numb because of the impact of nature. It's only after the session, the sensuous of light and shadow, color and the tasteof the rainforest come back exotically but fresh. And the little familiar feeling keeps drifting me back to Taiwan like a déjà vu.
I make a series digital drawing, in the method which I have been practicing since 2011.Although the modeling process seems organized and methodical, the composition and the narrative from part to part were put together by sensibility and imagination. This time I referenced the oriental traditional format of “album leaf”, each pieces featured one plants, object or scene I collect in the rainforest. I do not wish to digitally simulate nature but try to find the intersection of the two by the structure and textures. When I am browsing through the photogrammetry 3D model, I felt like I am walking through the rainforest again. The digital realm maybe distance and cold, but it makes the senses real and loveable.
