ABOUT
The last solo exhibition of Der-Horng Art Gallery for this year, and it is also the first cooperation with French artist, Françoise Pétrovitch for her inaugural exhibition in Taiwan. The title "The Space in Between" first appeared in a solo exhibition at the Museum of Romantic Life in Paris. Curator Gaëlle Rio, chose it for one of the exhibition’s sections, accurately describing the indefinite space between and around the figures in her paintings.
This space is often depicted with broad strokes, devoid of illusion or perspective. In a less-is-more state, the artist constructs a purely pictorial dimension. This "in-between" space is constituted via paint, paper, and silence, the void between two characters is expressed, a state of uncertainty. However, these seemingly non-narrative blanks leave the viewer with infinite imagination, prompting viewers to seek answers between characters and within the artwork itself.
